ESPAVO CREATIVE COLLECTIVE

Empowering Marginalized Art-Makers to Express & Connect

Espavo Creative Collective is where creative expression meets mutual aid, a vibrant traveling gathering of art events, workshops, and advocacy centering disabled, low income, chronically ill, and neurodivergent adults eighteen and older. Picture glue smudged fingertips, zines traded like secrets, collage scraps flying like confetti, junk journals thick with personality, and art cards swapped with the joy of childhood collectibles. Workshops are free or sliding scale, radically accessible, and rooted in low cost creative practices that spark confidence, ease stress, and open space for real self expression. You walk in curious, and you leave with handmade pages, new connections, and a sense of passion and purpose you did not know you would find.

PROOF OF PURPOSE

We host accessible, low cost creative workshops such as:
• Eraser Stamp Carving
• DIY Play Doh Stamping
• Zine Design
• Collage Making
• Junk Journaling
• DIY Art Trading Cards
We share skills and supplies, build community accountability, and work to ensure no one is left out. We are actively seeking support to expand access and serve more disabled and low income creatives.ECC currently holds quarterly meetups with plans to grow. We begin in Austin with the long term goal of reaching anyone who needs creative support, both locally and online.

PASSION MEETS PURPOSE

Despite having limited means, I personally create and fund every workshop, material kit, and resource myself. As someone who lives with disability and has experienced the adversities of marginalization. I know how powerful accessible creative expression can be. In the future, I hope to collect donations to expand this work and reach more people who need it. Now more than ever the marginalized and disabled are being forgotten and intentionally overlooked. As long as I have a voice, I will show up and help others find and share theirs through writing and art by any means necessary. As a multi hyphenate creative, self expression has been the only thing that helped me survive in this world. ECC has so much to share and we want people who doubt their worth and abilities to find sanctuary in learning something new. ECC’s mission is to show people they have something to contribute and can find community in that process. It is powerful to hold space for someone else and to be seen and understood without needing to explain yourself or prove your worth. It becomes a lot harder for institutions to ignore us when we come together as a collective.
